Pocket Knives

Twenty years ago, when I first started a nursery, an old farmer told me that "Every farmer needs a pocket knife". I started carrying one and found out that I use it at least ten times a day, and usually a lot more than that. Sometimes I just need to cut a string when tying up leaves, or tying a plant to a stake for support. I am always seeing leaves that need to be cut off, whether they are still green or already dead, and don't have clippers near by, but I always have my pocket knife. As a cycad grower, I am commonly testing seeds to see if they are good, or ready to sprout. I now think that every nursery person needs a pocket knife, but so does anyone who works outside.

My problem has been that I will lose my pocket knife every few years. My first nice pocket knife was a $75 Gerber and I lost it in the propagation house, and to this day, I have not found it. I later lost a $50 knife somewhere out in the nursery. I decided I needed pocket knives that didn't cost an arm and a leg, but still gave me the quality I needed to do a good job. I have found a good company who supplies the pocket knives I need, and I thought there should be plenty of people like me who have the same need.

I am now making some of these knives available to my customers. The supplier guarantees them under normal use for as long as you own your knife. I have used many of these, but my favorite that I am using right now is the black Apache. I have found that I need a smooth blade for some tasks and the serrated blade for other tasks. A serrated blade helps me cut through the larger cycad seeds by sawing into them first and is also useful for cutting dead leaves from plants, where the smooth part cuts smaller seeds and leaves that are still green. I have many sizes and blade types that will fit your individual needs.

The top knife is the Delta Ranger. It has a rubberized type handle and a pocket clip attached. The stainless steel blade has both a smooth area and a serrated area so it can be used for various tasks. It is 4 3/4 inches long when closed. These are $11.50 each, and comes with a free sheath.

The second from the top is the Delta Ranger with the camo style handle with rubber inserts. The blade is black stainless steel. It also has the pocket clip. It is also 4 3/4 inches long when closed. These are $16.95, and also come with a free sheath.

The third knife is the Delta Ranger II. This is more like a typical sized pocket knife. It has a black handle with rubber inserts, a pocket clip, and a black stainless steel blade. It is 3 inches long when closed. These are $8.00

The top knife is the Falcon IV. It has a hard plastic type handle, and is the largest of our pocket knives. It is 5 1/4 inches long when closed. It has the combination of the smooth blade and the serrated blade, and has an attached pocket clip. It has the blade release in the handle, making it very strong. These are $11.50 and come with a free sheath.

The second knife is the Park Ranger II. It has a hard rubberized handle, and is the thinnest of these knives. The stainless steel blade is completely serrated. It is 4 3/4 inches long when closed. These are also $11.50 each and come with a free sheath.

The bottom two knives are the black and camo style Apaches. The black has a rubberized handle where the camo style has an aluminum handle with the black rubberized inserts. The stainless steel blades have both the smooth and serrated areas like most of the other knives. They are both 4 1/2 inches long when closed and have an attached pocket clip. The black Apache is $15.95 and the camo Apache is $16.95

You must be 18 years or older to purchase one of these knives, and you must be in compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the purchase, ownership, carrying, and use of these knives.

I usually ship by priority mail, which starts at $4.05. With the weight of these knives, I should be able to ship up to 3 knives for that price anywhere in the U.S. With the new flat rate USPS boxes, the highest shipping would be $8.10, and you could fit 10 to 20 knives for that price. Also keep in mind, if you were to buy any of my fertilizer products and I ship them in flat rate boxes, I should be able to fit a few knives in the same box. In this case, you would not pay any more for shipping than you would normally pay just to ship the fertilizer! If you live in Florida, I will need to add 7% sales tax. Please contact me at cycadjungl@aol.com with your questions and orders so I can help you find the knife that is perfect for you!

LIMITED TIME ONLY- To give you a chance to try a few of these products, if you buy 3 knives or more, on knives that are listed for $10 or more, I will take $3.00 off the price of each knife. So if you were to buy 3 knives, you would save $9!
